Top 10 Ugliest new cars
Design is key. Design makes something desirable. Something ugly or unpleasant to the eye is typically undesirable, and that’s typically the key to failure. It has been proven that attractive things usually get more attention, at least for a longer period of time. Beautiful people like Jay-Z and Beyonce are always in the press and under a good light. Others, like Kathy Griffin, get occasional attention but it’s always short-lived and never very flattering.
Ugly cars will get much attention, but not the desirable type, and most likely this type of press will be detrimental to the car.
Here’s a top 10 list of some of the cars that are suffering (or will soon suffer) from their unfortunate styling:
2013 Lincoln MKZ

Original ideas often get good press, but not always. The new MKZ is certainly original, but from angles such as the ¾ rear and square-on the rear, this baby’s back is whack. Unfortunately, once those seeking an original design have purchased the MKZ, few others will be charmed into one.
2014 Mitsubishi Mirage

Mitsubishi is in a pickle at the moment; they need a new miracle car that will help them regain some of the lost luster of their brand. The Mirage is, well, inexpensive and looks it. This is not a good combination, and certainly not the miracle they were waiting for.
2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur

As far as luxury saloons go, the Flying Spur is all about class. Unfortunately, the rear end of the revamped 2014 Flying Spur seems as though it were lifted from a ‘70s AMC Concord, which in the 21st Century, is class-less. The front of the car is fine, but some of its panache is lost.
2014 RAM ProMaster

Although we’re typically big fans of commercial vans, such as the Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit, the ProMaster has got way too much beak; heck even a mother couldn’t stomach that frontal protrusion. A little spackle and paint might do the trick.
2014 Jeep Cherokee

We did not know that Chrysler design was accepting vision-impaired people. We agree that everyone deserves a fair chance in life, but someone should have OKed this beforehand. Wait, someone did? Ouch. This thing in ugly.
2013 Chevrolet Spark

More often than not, when all-new cars fail to leave dealer lots it’s because something’s amiss. The Spark is a “fine” car, but by the looks of it and by the number of units on dealer lots and the very few on the road, it most certainly is not a winner. And by the looks of the car, we get it.
2013 Scion xD

The only non-ugly Scion is the FR-S. The tC may have a little je ne sais quoi, but the xD is hands down the least attractive. From nose to tail, it sports no distinctive features other than its fantastic hubcaps. Event the lesser iQ has something going for it: better hubcaps!
2013 Nissan Rogue

If bland and uninspired had a car in their definition, the Rogue would be it. Like a sausage with 45-degree cuts front and back, the featureless tube has no discernible aesthetic characteristics that would pull anyone in its direction.
2013 MINI Paceman

Punched in the face, kicked in the ass and groin, the Paceman is nose-heavy and not cute like a pug or French bulldog. The Countryman is well proportioned whereas the Paceman looks like it had its tail lobbed off. This is the ugly duckling of the otherwise very cool MINI lineup.
2014 Mitsubishi Outlander

The previous Outlander was a huge hit for Mitsubishi and its follow-up is, well, in a word: unsightly. Generic, boring and bloated, we think Mitsubishi has messed with a good thing and made it ghastly. This is also not the miracle they’ve been waiting for.
